NCD Comprehensive Household Survey in Region 4 (Demerara Mahaica)
NATIONAL COMMISSION ON DISABILITY NOTICE The National Commission on Disability (NCD) is conducting a comprehensive household Survey in region 4 Demerara-Mahaica. This household Survey is aimed at ascertaining the number of persons living with disabilities, their living conditions, needs, capacities, locations and contact information. Subsequently, telephone Interviews will be done to obtain additional information of PWDs in accordance with the Survey’s Instrument. Honourable Robeson Benn– Minister of Home Affairs moments ago met virtually with Board members and Officers of the National Commission on Disability (NCD). CDC’s Post—Project Assessment
The National Commission on Disability (NCD) participated in a Post-Project Assessment that was facilitated by the Civil Defence Commission (CDC) on February 14th, 2018. The assessment was done at the Fort Ordnance Primary school where retro-fitting, enhancement and equipping works were done; so as to use the school as an emergency shelter to mitigate flood risk in the Ordnance Fortland area. The structural and environmental conditions of the school and its immediate environs were the components of assessment. NCD Meets Hon. Minister of Social Cohesion
The Hon. Minister of Social Cohesion Dr. George Norton, Permanent Secretary—Melissa Tucker and Technical Officer—Natasha Singh-Lewis met with representative of the National Commission on Disability on March 5th, 2018. The Agenda of the meeting included the Ministry’s policies and programmes that cater for Persons with Disabilities, Sensitization and Collaborations to improve the lives of PWDs. Consensus of the meeting comprised of the Ministry providing NCD with their Policy and Strategic Plan, a two-way sensitization programme in which both entities will sensitize persons in the outlining areas of Guyana and the Ministry assisting NCD with Advertising (printing of Disability Etiquette Posters). Ministry of Social Protection Training Seminar
The Ministry of Social Protection Labour De-partment held a Seminar for Public and Private Sector Organisations on February 8th, 2018. The training session was held in the Ministry’s Boardroom located at 82 Brickdam, Georgetown. Components of the Seminar were the ‘Leave with Pay Act’ and the ‘National Minimum Wage Order’, facilitated by Attorneys-At-Law Ms. Kimberly Yearwood and Mr. Kevin Morgan.
